WOW WOW WOW. I don’t think my review will even be able to explain what a wonderful experience we had at the barn! Robert was so helpful and clear communication throughout. Robert explained how everything worked, however had a very useful information booklet which detailed all the wonderful opportunities to explore. The barn and everything in it is perfect! So cosy and so remote, it truly was so peaceful. With a fire pit outside which we enjoyed the first couple of nights and then a fire inside. I cannot recommend this place enough, as it is a truly unique experience and I cannot wait to come back already
Lauren10/20/2022This was the first time we stayed at the house, we have stayed at Wyldwood a few times and we’re back in a couple of weeks - we just love the location and both places are so clean and well equipped it really is our happy place. Robert is great, really helpful and accommodating, the welcome pack is really good and comprehensive and good internet. Nothing else I can really add, you won’t be disappointed.
Phil10/10/2022One of the most perfect places I've ever had the pleasure of staying. Hosts are attentive and always at the end of the phone if you get signal haha. If you need a no stress no interruption break I would choose this place. The lodge we stayed in was way more than we expected and already tried booking back in as soon as we arrived.this was all we needed and more.
carla preston9/25/2022Outstanding! This place really is a "get away from it all" stay. There's nobody else even visible from the property. We stocked up on food for 2 days and didn't leave apart from a (punishing) trail run in the surrounding woods. The actual cabin is very impressive. Massive inside and the kitchen/bathroom have been fitted out brilliantly. Host Robert's communication and check-in was faultless. If it wasn't booked we'd have tried to stay at least another night, and what better review can you give than that!
Patrick9/15/2022My partner and I spent the weekend at Robert’s barn. Needless to say we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The property is very private with lovely scenic views. Robert was great with communication and helping us with check in even though we were arriving late. The property has everything you could possibly need to have a really enjoyable stay, it is better than the photos!!. Everything is of such high quality inside and out. Thanks so much Robert we will be back again for sure!
Abby9/04/2022We’ve been before and reviewed before, we stayed for 2 weeks this time and as always we had a brilliant stay, host is brilliant and makes it all so easy, and he’s covered just about everything I can think of and more, it’s clean and tidy (we’re fussy so it must be!) the location is amazing it’s just a wonderful place to be. We love it so much that we’ve booked another 3 visits this year - so I would say book it you won’t be disappointed but we’ve probably already booked it!
Phil8/18/2022Amazing accommodation, right it the middle of the forest. The cabin had everything you need and more!
Everything was really clean. We loved all the choice of games and DVDs to choose from.
We couldn’t of asked for a better location, water world 15 minutes one way and Alton towers 15 minutes the other way, wish we didn’t have so much booked as would of loved a full day at the cabin.
Thanks Robert for a very memorable birthday break. We will definitely be back.Vicky7/27/2022I went here to play airsoft at optac the kingdom and it was a very well run site. Staff are top notch and games are great. Me and my pals had to end our day earlier than expected due to one of my pals thinking he was rambo and twisted his ankle but overall its a great place we will now be frequenting
leeroy Jenkins7/04/20225 stars! Robert was very friendly and helpful, throughout. The whole check in process was quick and easy. The cabin is beautiful, clean, well looked after and includes an outdoor fire pit for personal use. Amazing location, the cabin is hidden far into the forest with no other property close to you. If you’re looking for a mini break or a chilled out couples holiday, this is a perfect choice. An Idyllic cabin run by a friendly, welcoming host.
Callum5/21/2022Everything a dream woodland cabin should be secluded but close enough for take away, toasy warm but in the middle of wilderness, well equipped for cooking or entertainment or even to play hide and seek and wonderfully clean so it could be blizzarding outside and you have enough space for the kids to not drive you crazy!
Mithika4/24/2022We are very hard to please, it’s hard to find a nice clean place, somewhere that feels nice and homely and special, is our new favourite place. We booked another stay the very same evening that we arrived so sure we were we wanted to come again. The lodge is in the middle of a forest, the photos just don’t do justice to how nice the location is. The entrance is a short drive behind big secure gates, apart from Robert who met us when we got there, we didn’t see anyone else. We had the whole of Wyldwood to ourselves. The property itself had a big range cooker, all the pans we needed and plates, cutlery and various other things that many places don’t think of, like bottle openers and peeler, capsules for the dishwasher and washing machine and matches, firefighters and logs for the firepit. It was clean, tidy and had loads of DVDs, games and WiFi that was a little slow but worked well enough to stream Netflix. We were sad to leave but looking forward to going back again.
Phil4/19/2022FANTASTIC! Home from Home.
This was perfect - the barn has everything you could need - arrival tea, coffee, hot chocolates, marshmallows for s’mores, fire wood for log burner and fire pit. Well equipped kitchen with all the white goods you need.
Small touches like notes on the light switches and shower giving you instructions on what they do really let you settle in to your home from home really quick.
Roberts communication was always prompt and very helpful which made planning our stay even easier.
Genuinely nothing bad to say about this place - maybe that the rain didn’t allow us to use the BBQ … guess that just means we’ll need to visit again ☺️Scott4/06/2022We really enjoyed our stay here. Robert met us and gave us a warm welcome and explained everything we needed to know. The barn was very impressive and was well fitted out to a high standard. It was located well away from anything else and so it was very peaceful and relaxing. As a host, Robert went above and beyond to make the stay perfect, with many little extra touches that made us feel instantly at home. The information booklet catered for any eventuality with clear personal instructions to allow us to really enjoy the local area. All this for a similar price to what other places were charging for a novelty shed. I cant speak highly enough of this place - My only regret was not staying longer!
Dave3/29/2022JUST BOOK IT!!!!! You will not be dissapointed! The barn is so cosy and charming, the plus for us, was the amazing fire, and the oak beams! I was in love with it all and with the beautiful surroundings and lots of wildlife. Great stop off for us visiting alton towers, only 20mins drive away. Lots of places nearby to grab food or visit. Comfy bed too and so nice to relax in at the end of the night and just take in the picturesque barn 😍 we will definately be back. Robert was a great host! We was nearly an hour late on arrival and he waited for us at the entrance to show us the way. He gave us great reccomendations for places around the area and was easily contacted. Thankyou again for a great stay!
Rachel3/20/2022Amazing 2 nights away with my partner, 3 children and dog. Cabin was just as described. Very clean, bedding was lovely and soft, plenty of room and lovely little touches like marshmallows to toast, array of DVDs and games and a book with local places to eat and visit. Will definitely be back again.
Clare2/23/2022This place is fantastic. You're basically hiring a small forest. Robert was a brilliant host, meeting us on arrival and was a phone call away for the keycode when we accidentally locked ourselves out the following day. Our worry of it being cold (how warm can a cabin in the woods be in February right?!) was totally unfounded. The underfloor heating throughout was glorious and we were cosy from start to finish. The kids loved exploring and roasting marshmallows over the fire. All of us slept like a log. Our own little mini adventure.
Philip2/13/2022Communication was great prior to our visit and Robert was waiting at the security gate to let us in and show us around. Everything was very clean and ready for us with the underfloor heating on. Despite the weather, we had a wonderful cosy stay which was because of the high quality accommodation. All in all, a lovely trip!
Jen2/13/2022Easy find to find, Robert was waiting at the security gate to let us in and show us to the “barn” which is located in a secluded valley surrounded by woodland. Approximately 70 acres worth all to ourselves. The Barn’s beautiful indoor lighting, wooden beams, log burner and under floor heating made it cosy. I couldn’t stop looking and the beautiful wooden beams inside the barn. leather chairs, bed and shower are very comfortable and you almost don’t want to get up and out once you are in. The barn has everything you need. Including a guide to all nearby amenities +/- 10 minutes away. I brought my own charcoal and bbq grid because I love outdoor cooking and used the fire pit. We were outside around the fire pit deep into the night and always felt very safe. It is a special place and Robert was helpful, attentive and approachable. Would love to stay again and highly recommend.
Hendrik1/16/2022Really unique place. You can literally see tree trunks from every window. The lodge was spotless and very spacious for a family of four. Perfect for dogs, plenty of walks. We didn't see anyone else the whole time we were there. Just what you want for a mini break, away from it all.
Eschelle12/30/2021A fantastic place in a beautiful setting. Spacious and extremely well kitted out for a self sufficient stay. Also can be very confident here that it is a safe place to stay in this pandemic as you have the place and surrounding woodland all to yourself. The place was immaculate when we arrived and the decor is top notch. It's very spacious and perfect if you have young children. The bedding was so luxurious and the place was so warm and cosy. I would book again without hesitation.
Alison12/26/2021Such a wonderful place, the pictures don’t do it justice! It has everything you need, lovely and spacious! The board games and dvds were a great hit with our children when it became too cold to play outside. We felt very safe and well looked after by Robert. We can’t wait to return!
Erica11/07/20215 stars aren't enough!! The location is amazing, the property is clean the host was very welcoming. This truly felt like an experience like no other I will definitely be booking here in the near future. If you are looking to get away from it all, look no further you won't regret staying here.
Sajed10/27/2021This is one of the best accommodations I have stayed in, everything we needed was provided and was a real home from home, loved the log burner flickering at night whilst watching a movie. The quality of fixtures throughout were excellent. Perfect location for our visit to Alton towers too. Many thanks for Hosting your property.
Stephen10/21/2021We had the loveliest weekend staying here. So much space indoors and out. The lodge was cosy and had everything you needed and extras. The kids loved that you could open the door and be straight out into the woods where they had fun lighting the fire pit and toasting marshmallows. Great place if you want to visit Alton Towers and the Peak district or if you just want to relax and enjoy just being at the lodge and the lovely surroundings. We will definitely be back and hopefully for longer. Robert was very helpful and willing to help or answer any questions if needed. It surpassed our expectations thank you.
Kirsten10/17/2021We had a great stay here - a welcome rest after 2 days at Alton Towers. The barn is nice and secluded, a great size and offered all the necessary amenities. We all had a comfortable nights sleep, including our daughter on the foldout bed supplied. We had a nice time round the fire pit toasting marshmallows. Would definitely recommend to others and will love to stay again.
Chris10/10/2021We’ve just got back for a 2 night stay. The wooded area and the cabin itself was far bigger than we expected. Lots of outdoor seating, bbq and fire pit! It was a brilliant space for our 4 year old to be able to run around and make a noise without disturbing anyone.
The cabin itself was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The beds were fully made and we had plenty of towels, tea towels and hand towels.
Extra steps taken for Covid was excellent - such as running all of the pots through the dishwasher between stays and using antibacterial fog bombs to ensure no germs left behind.
Everything was thought of from hand soap, dishwasher tablets, fire lighters and a bag of marshmallows for the fire.
The underfloor heating was a treat too!
We will definitely be returning as we enjoyed the time so much!
Robert was so friendly and so attentive!
What a lovely stay!! Thank youKirsty10/03/2021Greeted by Robert on arrival very friendly and welcoming. The barn itself is spotless. Plenty to do but if your stuck Robert provides a book with local attractions, pubs and restaurants in it. Robert is only a call away and was extremely helpful. Will definitely be back and already recommended to friends and family.
Lucy9/22/2021The barn was incredibly clean (we took our own duvet etc due to covid and cleanliness worries - did not need to do this it was spotless!)
The views were superb and a lovely alternative to a standard hotel.
We travelled with an 8month old and she was perfectly safe in the barn and plenty of space for a travel cot.
Cheadle spice was the Indian we used - fantastic!
This barn is more than expected and Robert was incredibly kind!Kerry9/14/2021Having walked around Huntley Wood for years and years before it was an events venue, it was a no brainer when we realised it would be possible to have our wedding here. A year later than planned it happened, and we could not have been more impressed with how it went. The clubhouse accommodation was an incredible extra that we were not expecting from when we initially booked having been a recent addition during the pandemic and it was perfect. A beautiful room with a kitchen, bathroom and seating area and all the facilities you could ask for. We had a marquee in the grounds and it made for the perfect setting. Everyone commented on how incredible it was and locals were amazed that they didn't know it was even here. Communication with Rob was always good and he could not do enough to help us out over the 18 months from booking to event. Highly recommend as both accommodation and an events venue. Thank you for making our wedding the dream that it was.

Jade and Dan9/12/2021Robert was a really great host and offered great communication before and throughout our stay. The cabin itself is charming with good amenities if you want to cook there yourself. There is loads of outside space and also a fire pit which is perfect to light in the evening and they were thoughtful enough to provide marshmallows with sticks, which was a nice touch. The site feels very private, surrounded by woodlands and offers lovely walking areas that we took full advantage of during our stay. Reasonably easy to get to areas of the Peak District and lots of scenic drives which we enjoyed. Overall a great relaxing stay and I would love to come back in the winter for a cosy stay.
Catherine9/09/2021We absolutely loved our time at the Barn, it was truly perfect and exceeded our expectations in every way. The location is stunning and the hosts have really thought of everything, right down to marshmallows for toasting over the fire pit. We're already looking at dates to visit again as two nights was just not enough for us!
Jessica9/02/2021This hidden gem is so beautiful we really didn't want to leave. The place is extremely spacious and set out in the woods so is perfect for kids to run around and have freedom to make some noise. Every little detail was thought of to make the stay more comfortable and the host was absolutely lovely. We will definately be booking again in the near future and I would thoroughly recommend for others to book too.
Angela8/22/2021Well what can I say! Am absolutely spectacular hidden gem. I write this review reluctantly as I don't want to share this little treasure but feel it only fair to let the world know how wonderful this place and the host is. Everything was beyond perfect and every finishing touch was carefully thought out by the host. The place was just beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to book again or recommend to others. It was all just amazing beyond belief.
Angela8/22/2021This place is totally amazing, myself, partner and 2 boy’s, 8 & 9 had the best 4 night stay.
The cabin was spotless, so well equipped and comfortable, Robert has thought of everything, even marshmallows to toast over the campfire.
We loved the peace and quiet of the forest, you truly are alone in your own woods which you can explore.
A great location to explore the local area, we visited Alton Towers, Monkey forest and waterworld, which were all within 30 minutes drive.
Highly recommend and I’m not surprised that Robert is a super host.Lisa8/20/2021we couldn't believe how nice the barn was, the location was off the beaten track and it's it's own haven. at times we felt as though we were abroad, trying to spot wildlife and watching the sun go down. even when the weather was grim it was beautiful. so many things have been thought about within the property for your comfort, such as black out curtains (which ensure a really good night's sleep!), comfortable arm chairs, a dishwasher and so much more. outside has been thought through just as much, with plenty of seating, lights, a BBQ and firepit. there's loads of land to explore, so whether you're an explorer or like the comforts of the fire (indoors or outdoors!), it'll suit you. the only problem we had trying to work out whether we liked being indoors or outdoors most as both settings were perfect. will definitely be back!
Lisa8/13/2021This is an amazing place to stay. So quiet and peaceful. We were amazed at all the outside space we could explore. Indoors there is everything you need, we enjoyed the board games and the huge rooms! It’s nice and close to Alton Towers and Waterworld swimming pool in Stoke-on-Trent. We saw loads of other places we would like to visit if we are able to book again, which we would do without hesitation. Robert was very helpful with the check in and left us to it while we stayed.
Katie8/11/2021This had the WOW factor as soon as you drove up to the property. Inside was stunning and pictures did not do it justice. Absolutely pristine. Had everything you needed rite down to wood for fire and coal for barbie. Plenty of land for lovely walks. Property was security gated so no worry of people wandering onto it.Would highly recomend this could not fault anything. Host on hand 24/7 if required.
Tracey8/06/2021Magical Forest Retreat The property is amazing! It’s set in a tranquil forest away from the rest of the world. Other guests staying in the Huntley Wood complex remain in their own areas so privacy is guaranteed.
The property was exceptionally clean and spacious! All the little touches had been thought of Marshmallows for the Camp Fire etc.
The host was exceptionally flexible which for a family of four with a six month old was critical to making our stay all the more special.
The arrival pack has been well thought through with every local supermarket, pub, restaurant and attraction listed. So you can fully immerse yourself in the local area and get maximum value out of your stay.
2 very minor points, nit picking really-
It’s only possible to recycle glass on site. For a venue that brands itself in part as ecological this was disappointing. We travelled back home with our metal and plastic waste.
We’re quite a clean bunch, it would have been nice for some kitchen roll to be included with the rest of the house hold consumables to allow us to clean as we go a little more easily.Jake8/06/2021The barn was absolutely spectacular and Robert was such a wonderful host. If you want a relaxing break away from it all and surrounded by glorious scenery and wildlife, this is the place for you. We had a lovely takeaway one evening, dinner in a wonderful pub another night and managed to walk into Cheadle through Robert’s land one afternoon. Even if it was chucking it down with rain there are DVDs and comfy blankets and a warming fire. Also the bed was so comfy! Would most definitely recommend and we will be back!
Charlotte7/30/2021Just returned from a relaxing 4 night stay with our two children, aged 7 and 11.
The cabins couldn't have been better. Spotlessly clean and very spacious.
Rob included everything we needed, including Marshmallows for toasting around the firepit- which the kids loved.
Rob greeted us on arrival and was always only a message away if we needed him.
We had poor weather for most of it but it didn't dampen the spirits and Rob provided some board games at very short notice.
The woods are some size and it's all so very peaceful and quiet!
We ate at the Red Lion and the Huntsman which were both within 1-2 miles and both very nice.
All in all, this is a great base for travelling to Alton Towers (or just having quiet time in the lodges). We hope to return. Thank you again!Scott7/30/2021Exceptional It is a large luxurious cottage with huge private garden in the middle of forest. Everything was literally perfect and beyond expectation. The pictures of the cottage are exactly the same as the actual place. The host was exceptional, kind, and very generous. I 100% recommend this place!
None.Saud7/25/2021Oh wow! If I could give "6 stars" I would. What a perfect place to call "home" if you want to explore the Peak District. A very comfortable "barn", very clean, and modern. Even the kitchen knives were sharp! It has all you can want for a very quiet retreat. You will feel all the privacy you need, the perfect combo of remoteness but close to everything. Nearest village Cheadle has all the groceries or amenities you need. You are close to a great Pub - Draycott Arms - with excellent food, but even better is cook at home, have a BBQ, enjoy the quiet space and fresh air. Robert is an excellent host and provides an excellent experience. Definitely the best place I have stayed through AirBnB.
Chris7/22/2021The location and cleanliness were outstanding. Beautiful scenery and extremely quiet. Location was perfect very quiet and relaxing
Couldn’t ring out for a takeaway as we were exhausted after spending two days at Alton towers as no
Phone signal never mind, ended up making do with food I already hadMichelle7/15/2021Exceptional The lodge was spacious, very clean and comfortable. The private wood surrounding it was lovely and secluded but it was also very close to amenities, and felt very safe and secure. It was provided a convenient as a base for getting to Alton Towers from. We would definitely stay there again.
Lesley7/09/2021Wonderful stay in the most gorgeous place Stunning surroundings and a beautiful property. Robert was so friendly and helpful on arrival, the log burner was set up ready to go, there was a book with loads of info such as local takeaways that delivered to the rural location, taxi numbers and things to do nearby with maps etc.
Nothing!Hannah7/07/2021Very happy that we chose to stay here for a week as a part of our honeymoon. Amazing accommodation, the picture online do not compare to seeing it in person. We had everything we needed and the communication with Robert was excellent from the moment the booking was made. I highly recommend this accommodation and if you love watching rabbits feom your windows then even better. The footpath walks in the area are fantastic and there are stores close by to get all the food you need for the BBQ provided. We had a lovely break and you will too. Christine and Kay
Christine7/04/2021So stayed here for my daughters birthday, Robert is a great host we arrived early and dropped of decorations off before picking my daughter up and coming back and robert had arranged for all the decorations to be put up baloons inflated
As for location the cabin is great, underfloor heating is a treat
Cabin was very clean, fire wood supplied robert was only a call away at anytime
Woodland surrounding is beautiful
Will be staying again !!
Thanks robertMalaki6/27/2021This place is just lovely! Spacious, spotless and comfortable. The photos don't do it justice. Perfect location for alton towers, water world, monkey forest etc. It was so so nice to come back to such a peaceful spot with a bbq and fire pit. The kids loved it, and no neighbours for them to annoy! Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Carina6/25/2021Fantastic, woodland & fire pit, felt like camping but with the luxury of a lodge! Loved that it was so spacious and that we had the woodland to ourselves. Very welcoming host, lots of little extras like a pint of milk ready in the fridge and marshmallows for toasting. A fire pit with a full store of logs ready to go and lots of outdoor seating. Perfect quiet place to stay. And although we didn't need it there's a great guide to local attractions with maps/route times. Very thoughtful!
The gate needing to be unlocked and re padlocked every time was a bit of a pain, normally electric gates that weren't working when we were there. It wasn't too bad once we'd got used to it.Julie6/10/2021A very good experience for families and the freedom and night fire with marshmallows was brilliant f Everyone was very accommodating and easy to contact. The lodge was brilliant and my children enjoyed their adventure.
I understand locking gates but as we had a lot of rain and having to open and close gates every time became a bit of a chore.Ann6/10/2021It was a pristine house which was perfect for a quick, quiet and calm escape from the city hoards. Everything was classy and available for our comfort and pleasure with its location, cute rabbits and secluded ambiance adding up to its luxurious stature. Robert made sure we were okay and well communicated with convenient instructions laid down perfectly. Definitely coming back - prolly for winter season.
Marcus Eunice6/09/2021What a fantastic find! We couldn't believe we had the whole place to ourselves. Its a great place to stay whilst visiting the Peak District. Toasting marshmallows in the outdoor fire pit area was great fun for the kids. The cabin looks like 3 different accomodations, but is just 1, with plentyand places to explore in the grounds. We visited Illam.and Dovedale, the Monsal Trail and Alton Towers whilst here. Would highly recommend!
Alexis6/04/2021We had a fantastic break, it was a lovely location & really peaceful. My daughter loved spotting rabbits, red kites, tadpoles in the lake & listening to the owls while toasting marshmallow on the campfire. The cabin was cosy & comfortable, would have liked to stay for longer so will definitely be booking again soon!
Claire5/30/2021This is by far one of the best experiences I’ve had .. from the host to the cabin .. couldn’t ask for more .. the cabin is made to a very high standard to the point where the pictures don’t do it any justice must view in person .. it was a beautiful and tranquil place .. loved waking up in morning to the great outdoors with seeing wild life from amazing birds to little rabbits in the woods .. this is definitely worth booking for anyone who needs a few days to them self .. the cabin is equipped with everything you need and I loved how a bbq and sandpit was provided with everything you need .. finally the log fire inside was amazing nice warm luxury place thank you Robert for having us
Kp5/23/2021We had a lovely week staying in the woods, with just a few rabbits and an owl for company! There were no other guests on site, so it was incredibly quiet, and (literally) a breath of fresh air. The house itself is very well equipped and spacious, and outdoors there's a great space for an open fire and barbecue (with fuel supplied). Everything was exactly as seen in the photos on the listing. Rob was very easy to deal with, and even gave us some marshmallows to toast on the fire.
Jonathan4/17/2021What a great place...hidden and nestled in woods, it was a special treat for the kids!
Can’t thank Robert enough for all the little touches..firewood, marshmallows, a well stocked larder cupboard with milk, tea, coffee, even oil, salt and pepper!
We had a brilliant stay, Robert is taking great care to meet COVID guidelines! This place was spotless!
Thanks again!Rachel10/30/2020An excellent retreat in nature. Very secluded, private and idyllic. We particularly enjoyed having some beers and music around the fire until late at night and the woodland is large enough to explore over several days. Would recommend for families and groups of friends looking for an alternative to camping. The cabin is comfortable enough to be an excellent Airbnb property without the added bonus of the woodland.
Jack9/21/2020Amazing Cabin in the woods !!! The cabin was absolutely amazing . It was extremely clean and had everything we needed. The cabin was secluded and quiet and the shops were close and easily accessible. Rob was very friendly and provided all the information we needed as we arrived. Would highly recommend this place.
Abir9/10/2020This is the perfect cabin in the woods, we wanted to be in the countryside and we couldn’t have asked for anywhere more suitable. The cabin was incredibly clean, warm and cozy with everything we needed. The beds were comfy with super soft sheets and the underfloor heating was a real treat after coming back from long windy walks.
Our only issue was with the WiFi which was down while we were there, this wouldn’t have normally been a problem for us but as we had no phone signal either this meant planning walks for the next day really hard.Claire8/31/2020Really fantastic venue for larpers. Lots of space and nothing looks overly modern so ensures no level of disconnected in the in charecter areas. Only problem I found is their drainage has much to be desired so is not sufficient for the rain that we had particularly at the first event. Many people's tents got bogged.
Jas Cook8/25/2020A lovely setting in beautiful private woodland that was perfect for me, my wife and our two small children. Provisions were there for a campfire and we loved toasting marshmallows and making smores. Walking in the woods was great, and an excellent location for local attractions. Robert provided an excellent local information folder that helped us plan our visit when we got there.
Matthew8/24/2020Excellent accommodation in a lovely peaceful setting. Much bigger than we expected and a kitchen so large you could probably cook Christmas dinner for 10 if you wanted too! Well located for touring the surrounding area too and a good host with clear and responsive communication. Reccomended
Paul8/21/2020This was an amazing place to stay. We came for 4 nights and throughly enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed at the cabin.
We enjoyed the walks around the woodlands and there was so much to explore. It was a clean and safe place to stay with the kids. It was a beautiful and secluded.
Rob was a great host and I would definitely recommend this place.
Shops and amenities are within a 5 minute drive so everything is at hand.Sukhbir8/04/2020Wow, what a surprising little gem. Could not have wished for more. Outstanding lodge with all amenities and room for camping if you want a larger group.
Lots of trails to search with wildlife around every corner. Children loved the wild woodland and the water fights in the trees. We hung a hammock between the trees and took our projector for an outside cinema, the WiFi came in very handy. Hosts were lovely and helpful and on hand if you needed them but did not in anyway intrude.
The campfire and mallow toasting were a real treat. Will be booking again as soon as I get home.Lesley7/31/2020Amazing place to stay! We couldn’t praise this place more highly if we tried. We were totally in awe as soon as we drove onto site and spotted the cabin. Then once going inside and seeing how gorgeous it is all laid out, with all needs catered for and no small touches missed we couldn’t believe our luck. Then the surroundings... that’s what really made it special for us. Sitting out together on a night around the campfire and hearing nothing but bird song was magical. We were going into Alton Towers for 2 full days of our trip and we were disappointed that we were having to leave then woods as we would of loved to of done some more exploring. Rob communicated brilliantly and was very thorough with all the Covid 19 precautions, he was always at the other end of the phone if we needed him. We would recommend 100%. Great little find for us!
Nothing! It was all fantastic.Liz7/22/2020Perfect lockdown getaway!
When the restrictions on holidays was lifted we were looking for a break to get away from the city, but still wanted somewhere we could be comfortable knowing that it was covid safe. This place was perfect. We stayed as a family spanning three generations and we all loved it. The underfloor heating kept us toasty warm in the chilly evenings, the bedding was super comfy and made for a wonderful night's sleep. The kitchen exceeded our expectations - it was spotlessly clean and had everything we could possibly want to prepare our meals easily. The bookcase was full of DVDs but there was so much else we could do that we didn't have time to sit and watch TV! The cabin is in the middle of a private estate so there really wasn't anyone else around apart from the people who work there. It gave it an added air of luxury and seclusion that you don't find in many places that are driving distance from London!
When the weather was good we ate our meals outside on the many picnic benches, and there was a well prepared campfire pit waiting for us not far from the cabin. Once we arrived we didn't touch the car again during our stay, but if we had wanted to there were places nearby that we could have easily visited for day trips.
I absolutely loved my time here and if I had the chance would definitely go back. If you are looking for good quality accommodation, away from it all (but still easy reach to amenities), then don't hesitate, book this place now! I imagine it's going to get booked up fast once it's had a few more reviews on here!Bhiru7/13/2020Rob was a great host. He met me on arrival and did a thorough contactless check in. I was reassured that the cabin had been cleaned and left vacant before I arrived. The cabin was located in the middle of woodland - really quiet and just what I needed to get my head down and get some work done.
The wifi was stable throughout my stay which was something important for me. When I needed a break from work, I enjoyed walks in the woods, and the view of the trees outside the window when I woke up was like chicken soup for the soul.
The accommodation was a high standard, good kitchen, heating worked well, bed was comfortable, plenty of hot water in the shower, there was a choice of two eating areas although I only use one of them. The master bedroom was very spacious and much bigger than anywhere else similar that I have stayed before.
All in all I had a good stay and would happily come back here again if I needed a quiet but inspiring place to work, but I also think it's a good choice for couples.Sanjay7/12/2020Huntley Wood is by far one of the best camping experiences in the country. Well maintained toilets and cabins make camping there a great experience, as well as the expansive site. The natural hazards are the only downside, but you can a full warning about site ahead of time and frankly, the overall experience more than makes up for it.
Stationed On Hoth8/25/2019Beautiful site! A lovely escape from urban life as you cannot hear the traffic and you can see the stars very clearly at night if the weather is clear. Toilet and shower facilities are always clean and warm, inside the buildings is beautiful as well as warm. The site staff are very friendly and accommodating! I have now visited this site multiple times for many years and each time I am impressed with the site upgrades and work. Looking forward to future developments!
Joss Konrad-lee8/25/2019I first went to Huntley Woods some 8 years ago, from the moment we turned off the main road the whole atmosphere started changing, by the time we reached the gate's you can firmly feel the energy of the environment. There is a stillness that is so welcoming which gives the site a very special feeling, on top of the natural beauty of the site.Since then the site has been tamed and managed to provide a wonderful multi use event site.I still insist on tripping out there as often as I can, and still love turning into the lane knowing that every time I get out there that even just for a few minutes the feeling from the woods themselves will give me a big boost of natural healing.I can honestly say that you have to go out there to understand so don't take my word for it. I would recommend going out to any of the many various event's being held at Huntley Woods and find out for yourselves.I promise you won't regret it.
Claire Greenslade8/25/2019Came camping in these beautiful pine/spruce woods. The shower blocks were immaculate and toiletries refreshed during the course of day. The mud flats a source for wildlife coming and going. Tranquil and invigorating at the same time. 5* recommend to camping lovers or novices.
annabel richardson8/25/2019Op - Tactical airsoft.Absolutely amazing site, the team are always awesome. The games are always varied, never in the same place due to how huge the site is. we had a great weekend this is our 3rd time there and we loved the first time and its just getting better. Games from team death match to A, E, G versus snipers, Rescue or protect and so so much more games beside. I strongly recommend this airsoft site to anyone interested in starting airsoft, and even the ones who are looking for a new place to maybe restart.Definitely worth the visit.
Jon Lockitt8/25/2019Huntley wood is the perfect venue for specialist outdoors events such as LARP. The people who run this site, do so with passion, energy and dedication. The hot running water, shower clock, kitchen facilities, proper toilets, etc, makes the experience a thing of luxury. The site itself is beautiful and secluded, with highly satisfying walks to be had. Nearby takeouts will deliver to the gate here!
Jack Kastor8/25/2019A good LARP site. I stayed on one of the 3 sites which was currently still under improvement. The house was lovely with great potential. The toliet block was lovely with big cubicals with a handy cloak hooks in the ladies. The only dowside was as it had rained all day the site had turned into a marshy swamp. Very wet under foot with large puddles everywhere. However it had great little paths leading off for multiple linears.
Jane Taylor8/25/2018Just a great site for LARP, Relatively easy to get to, facilities are phenomenal, toilets and showers always clean, good routes for multiple linears going out simultaneously and good facilities in kitchen / buildings. We seemed to have a problem with the cooker in the Wyldwood kitchen, but apart form that, can't recommend this place highly enough,
